Livingston
Parish Humane Societies are the
following: Livingston Humane Society, Lucky Puppy
Rescue, Denham Springs Animal Shelter, Capital
Area Animal Welfare Society.
Livingston Humane Society serves entire
Livingston Parish providing critically needed
services for abused, abandoned, and neglected
animals. We work with the two city shelters as
well as plan to work hand and hand with the
parish shelter scheduled to open Fall 2008.
We have regular monthly meetings that are open to
the public and all are invited to attend. Visit

Lucky Puppy Rescue is located in Denham Springs
and they serve Livingston Parish, East Baton
Rouge Parish, Jefferson Parish, and Orleans
Parish. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate,
and place stray and abandoned dogs. As a foster
program all adopted animals are required to be
inside pets. The new owner must sign an adoption
agreement, must agree to a home inspection and
must have a secure fenced-in yard.
Capital Area Animal Welfare (CAAWS) is a private
non-profit organization. The Capital Area Animal
Welfare promotes practice of spay/neuter, teaches
the community responsible pet ownership, and
adopts homeless animals. In their mission to
provide animals with the placement of permanent,
responsible, loving homes they place their pets
in foster homes. In their efforts to effort to
reduce the pet overpopulation problem, Capital
Area Animal Welfare offers discount certificates
for spay/neuter procedures.
