Livingston Parish Health Department is also known as the Healthy Louisiana 2010 program. The mission of the Healthy Louisiana 2010 program is to provide a comprehensive set of disease prevention and health promotion objectives. Another goal is to increase the quality and years of healthy life of parish residents, eliminating health disparities within the parish, linking various health-related agencies and implementing programs that are lacking, among others.

In order to help parents prepare their children for school, the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals holds a statewide open immunization effort throughout the state. The Shots for Tots program mission is to have every child up to date on his or her immunizations by age two. While children are the primary focus of the program, adults also may get any necessary immunizations that they are lacking such as adult tetanus or other immunizations required to enter post-secondary institutions. Other health services such as Medicaid, Public Health services, and Behavioral Health services are offered as well.
