Livingston Parish Court is under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court. The Court districts were reapportioned into seven new districts, with one justice elected from each of the districts. The court has supervision and control over all lower courts, administrative and procedural rule-making powers, and may assign a sitting or retired judge to any court. The Jury Department is responsible for the selection and payment processing of the jurors used by the 21st Judicial District Court in Livingston Parish.

There is limited space in the Livingston Parish Courthouse and separate jury room for jurors are not available. Therefore, all jurors report to Courtroom One, where a roll is taken. The judges of the 21st Judicial District Court set the guidelines for the number of people empanelled for civil and criminal juries. A small claims court called a "Clerk's Docket" for claims of $3,000 or less is located within the county. A petition must be prepared and filed at the Clerk's office for a fee. Residents may also file in the Denham Springs City Court or through the Justice of the Peace. It would like to be added that petitions for child custody are normally filed by an attorney and forms are not available at the Clerk of Court's office. Civil transcripts request are handled by the Livingston Judges Office of the 21st Judicial District Court.
